Booking and Booking Fee

Bookings are considered speculative until a booking fee is paid to secure the date and booking. Booking Fees are non-refundable.  All quotes, written or verbal, are valid for 28 days from date of quotation. An invoice will be sent once all the details have been agreed and is valid for 28 days from receipt. Once the booking fee is received your booking will be confirmed and payment of the booking fee is taken as your acceptance of the cake price quoted and of the Terms and Conditions as stated.

The booking fee is as follows:

100% for all cakes/products costing less than £50

50% of full cake price for Birthday/Occasion Cakes (costing more than £50)

Balance payment will be required three weeks before collection

£75 for Wedding Cakes

Balance payment will be required three weeks before delivery

Payment

In the event that any payment is subsequently declined, the order will not be completed or released until alternative funding arrangements have been agreed and payment is made in full. The customer will be responsible for the payment of any additional charges which have been incurred as a result of payment failure. We would, of course, contact you should this be necessary.
All payments are made by either direct bank transfer or PayPal.

Cancellations

In the unfortunate event that you have to cancel your order, please note that as your cake is bespoke, certain components may have been ordered in advance in order to complete the design. As a result, the following conditions are implemented when an order is cancelled:

More than 3 weeks prior to the supply date, the full booking fee will be retained.

0-3 weeks prior to the supply date 100% of the total cost will be payable.

Requests to change the date of supply will be considered up to 2 weeks prior to supply and the request will be granted if practical.

Karen Elizabeth Cakes retain the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances beyond our control, such as fire or ill health, during which Karen Elizabeth Cakes will refund any money taken in full.

Designing Your Cake

All cakes are bespoke, handmade creations and there may be some slight variation from the design requested or picture supplied, not only out of respect for the work of other cake artists, but to ensure that your creation is unique for you and your someone special.  Should you wish to make any alterations to your cake, you are asked to let us know as soon as possible. If it is possible to change your design, Karen Elizabeth Cakes reserve the right to increase the fee originally quoted in order to take into account these variations. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate your wishes, please note that late changes cannot always be guaranteed.

Collection, Delivery and Storage

All cakes/products from Karen Elizabeth Cakes are collection only with the exception of wedding cakes/products.

 

Collection

Collection of your cake/product will be from Karen Elizabeth Cakes at an agreed date and time. Should you wish to change these arrangements, we will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee availability.  On collection, you (or in the case of weddings, a representative of your venue) must confirm that the cake/product is in good and undamaged condition. No responsibility can be taken by Karen Elizabeth Cakes for any subsequent damage once the cake has been handed over to you/your venue.  Due to the delicate nature of the cakes, care must be taken during transportation.  Please ensure you have sufficient space in a flat boot or footwell in which to transport your cake.  We do not recommend that cakes are placed on car seats, due to their sloping nature.  If the weather is hot, please use your air con.  No liability is accepted if damage occurs in transit.

 

Delivery

Karen Elizabeth Cakes only deliver wedding cakes. We will deliver at the time, date and venue agreed. If we are unable to deliver because there is nobody to receive the product, or the venue details provided are incorrect, the cake will be returned to our premises.  Further delivery arrangements will be at extra charge, payable by you and subject to availability. 

Storage

Unless advised otherwise, please store your cake/s in a cool dry place, in the cake box provided and do not store them in the fridge.

Allergies

Customers are responsible for notifying Karen Elizabeth Cakes of any dietary restrictions prior to placing an order. Cakes are made in an environment where soy, egg, gluten, dairy, nuts and other allergens may be present. 

No responsibility is taken by Karen Elizabeth Cakes for allergic reactions after advice has been supplied.

Non-Edible Items

Many cakes contain food safe non-edible items which may include (but are not limited to) dowels, florist wire, ribbons, straws etc. You will be advised of the placement of such items however, it is your responsibility to ensure that your venue / caterer / guests are aware that these items should be removed prior to consumption.

Fresh Flowers

Flowers supplied by third parties should be provided with the ends sealed, ready for insertion into the cake using food safe flower picks or for placing on the cake. Karen Elizabeth Cakes reserves the right not to use any flowers that are deemed unsuitable or those which have not been prepared appropriately. Some flowers are deemed poisonous. Karen Elizabeth Cakes takes no responsibility for the choice of flowers you wish to add to your cake. Please ensure the flowers chosen are safe for food contact and prepared correctly for use. Fresh flowers will be required to be available at the time of the cake delivery. If they are not available, Karen Elizabeth Cakes will be unable to dress your cake.

Disputes/Refunds

In the highly unlikely event that you have cause to complain, you must return the cake to Karen Elizabeth Cakes within 24 hrs of receipt so that Karen Elizabeth Cakes may investigate. Karen Elizabeth Cakes will deal with any complaints received as quickly as possible. Any refund given for disputes regarding a cake design or production of a design are at the discretion of Karen Elizabeth Cakes. Full refunds will not be given for any cake which has been consumed regardless of dispute, as consumption of the cake is viewed as your acceptance that the cake is adequate for the purpose for which it has been supplied. Any complaint posted in public forums will not be dealt with. Any attacks or unwarranted comments made in any public forums will be seen as libel and Karen Elizabeth Cakes will endeavor to seek legal advice and claim for damages.

Social Media

Karen Elizabeth Cakes reserves the right to use photographs of cakes made by them for advertising purposes, marketing and promotion of the business. This will include Social Media for example, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. Karen Elizabeth Cakes will, however, not publish pictures until after the date of your celebration so that we do not spoil your big reveal.

GDPR

When you contact Karen Elizabeth Cakes about ordering a cake, we have to collect a small amount of data, usually your name and contact details (phone and/or email). If you pay via online banking we do not hold your bank or card details or have access to them. Your name and email address may be shared with Free Agent for the purposes of invoicing. No banking/card details will be taken by either Karen Elizabeth Cakes, or Free Agent.  We will never sell or provide your personal details to third party marketing companies.
